She is a bored, rich woman. She is narcissistic and lazy and not very bright. She doesn't really care any more about Gatsby than she does her husband or even her own child. She is flattered by his advances and it's a way to get even with her cheating husband and pass some time. Nothing more. This is not a great romance here, people, never was meant to be. Daisy is a selfish brat. Daisy loves Daisy. Doesn't she prove that by letting him take the rap for her auto accident that kills someone? Does that sound like love to you? Believe me - it isn't. Daisy is not a nice person.
Gatsby's fatal flaw is that he never sees that side of her. He allows himself to get caught up in the romance of long ago. He doesn't love Daisy - he loves the idea of her. Pax-C
In the Great Gatsby why does Daisy like Gatsby?
Daisy likes Gatbsy because they had an affair a long time ago, and now seeing him again causes all of those emotions to come back. Also, it is exciting for both of them.
Reply:i also think her attraction is the age old:
opposites attract/FORBIDDEN FRUIT
she's from a wealthy family
he's a pauper
he's an outsider
she's inner circle
she's intrigued by him b/c he's different from what she's used to
