Whoops a daisy, my poor little car?

i had my first car accident yesterday, i drove (bumped) into the back of a van, i didn't break quick enough. luckily i was only going 30 mph.

but im now really wary about driving again. do you have any ideas?

also my car N reg 106, had dented bonnet, cracked number plate, slight bent in bumper and smashed headlight. (ligh still works fine, and car runs perfect)

Will they write the car off or repair it?

any answers will be great.

many thanks

should be repaired
Reply:repair but the main thing is your ok and Nobody was Hurt

Time will make the fear of driving pass and when it rains youle be in that car like a Flash :)
Reply:If the repairs cost more than the value of the car, they will write it off.
Reply:They will repair it, you'd have to just about roll it for them to total.
Reply:Most body shops charge an absolute fortune for car repairs. From what you have said they will want to replace the complete head light, bumper, bonnet etc with brand new parts. I suspect that the cost of this will make the car un-economical to repair. This leaves you with two choices 1) Put an insurance claim in and with the money get another car. 2) Find a local back street garage and ask them for a price for repairing the car. Go through yellow pages and find your local scrap yard. Purchase second hand parts for the repair, expect to get a bonnet, head light and bumper for less than £100.00 and if you can get the parts in the right colour even better again as there will be no expensive paint spraying.

Don't also forget if you put a claim in your insurance will go p next year.

Ja.
Reply:Nobody likes to be involved in car accidents, no matter how minor. What you need to do now, is get straight back in the driving seat and get back out there girl with the rest of them.

We have all done it, you are not the first neither will you be the last to go into the back of someone, so don't fret over it.

There are plenty of workshops around that will offer to do the work necessary to put all the damage right, or you can scan the local scrap dealer and get all the parts you need on the cheap. They may even know someone who can fit them for you.
Reply:If it is an 'N' reg and the damage is not too severe and its still 'legal' why bother to get it repaired. It runs doesn't it? The repairs will probably be more that the value of the car so effectively it will be a write off. Just get a new headlight (scrapyard?) If you are still wary of driving, that's fine just drive around somewhere quiet until you get your confidence back, which you will. By the way, it is 'brake' not 'break'.
Reply:we all do it....its just a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time...my advice would be to keep a larger distance....then you have time to adjust...l think the skill of driving is keeping out of trouble but knowing what to do if you fail..lol..l also like to keep to speed limits.l think its the new speeding..get you baby back and carry on....l would think it will be a repair all the parts you mention are replaceable, ..don't be too wary..after all you are a better driver now as you know how and what happened so have more experience.....none of us are perfect...lol..stay safe..and good luck to you
