then she asked me how they come up with that measurement....I have to say I honestely don't know, and can't even come up with an educated guess...She said that maybe they have people eat the stuff and then measure them.....anybody have an answer??
How do they measure grams of fat in food? My 7 yr old learned how to check fat grams in Daisy Scouts....but...
They use chemicals (solvent) that dissolve the fat but not the other parts of the food. Then they can see how much stuff was dissolved in the solvent, and that is the amount of fat that was in the sample. If you know how much you started with, and how much fat you got, you can calculate the percentage of fat in the food.
Reply:Why are they teaching your 7 year old about fat?
Reply:Chemists do that. They have calculations that they do, but they know the content of what is in our food.
