I have 2 abyssinian guinea pigs, Molly and Daisy. Molly has groomed Daisy to the point that Daisy is now naked from the neck down. We are now seperating them at night but I don't know what to do beyond that. Help? It's winter here and I can only assume Daisy is cold!
How do I stop one of my guinea pigs from overgrooming the other?
That is called barbering. There is no way to stop them other than seperating. http://www.guinealynx.info/hairloss.html
Reply:Your guinea pig is either sick or the two of them aren't grooming eachother but are fighting. They tend to lose hair around bites (which arent very visible) but if they arent fighting then maybe you should get a vets opinion.
Hope I helped :)
Reply:Like Memphisgal said, it is called barbering. When one pig barbers another guinea pig it is usually out of artistic, jealousy or boredom. The only way to fix it is by seperating them, you can place a grid sheet between them so that they can still talk but not get to each other. In the mean time read the following site and bring Daisy inside so that she is warm:

Good Luck!!
