Any tips for growing gerber daisies?

I killed the first one I tried. Now I bought another one and am trying really hard to pay attention to it but my thumb is just not as green as it should be. These are my favorite flowers so I would really love to be able to grow them!! Any tips would be awesome. Thanks.

Any tips for growing gerber daisies?
Gerber daisies are of South African origin, which explains the fact, why they can be grown as perennials only in the warm regions. Everywhere else Gerber daises grow as annuals or indoor plants.

Gerber daisies like well-drained soil. When planting, take the Gerber daisy out of its pot and loosen up the roots from the bottom. Then plant it in a roomy container or in the garden. Water Gerber daisy thoroughly and feed it once a week with a diluted fertilizer.

To extend the life of gerber daisies place them in a sunny location. They won’t mind additional artificial light. They will thrive in average to cool temperature and average humidity.

They are fabulous plants! Good luck and I hope this helps.
Reply:They take sunlight. Give them a good garden soil or if need be, put a shovelful of good black topsoil or mushroom compost in the ground where you are going to plant them. Then plant your plant. Make sure you start out with one in spring that looks vibrant. I own a garden center and get mine from a local greenhouse but I have seen them for sale at a supermarket and they looked like they had been sitting under florescent lights for a week, droopy and tired looking. Fertilize with a good water based fertilizer following directions. If you do those things, good plant to start, good soil, good location, and water and fertilize as needed, you should have great plants just like my customer have had for over 30 years. They make great cut flowers.
Reply:I am so glad you asked this question. These are My fiance's favorite too. (I am sory I can't answer.) I want to grow some in our back yard, but I don't think they do well in OK.

I hope this doesn't make me a leach. I just wanted to be able to come back to this question easily.
